Mark DeMent Obituary
ZANESVILLE: Mark DeMent, 59, of Zanesville, died Saturday, January 7, 2012 at his home. He was born on March 18, 1952 in Zanesville. He was a true artist working with jewelry, stain glass, landscaping, and carpentry. He loved the outdoors, especially the mountains. He graduated from Maysville High School and Ohio University in Athens.
He is survived by one son, Jesse DeMent; one grandson, Jase DeMent; his wife, Kim DeMent; his mother, Phyllis DeMent Holzschuher all of Zanesville.
He was preceded in death by his father, Deane DeMent; cousins, Sherree DeMent Romano and Nicholas Romano.
Calling hours will be held from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 5765 Gladstone Dr., White Cottage. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Queen officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Muskingum County Animal Shelter.

I remember meeting Mark only a couple of times - but it was quite memorable. I am very fortunate to have a necklace that Mark made for me as a gift from my Mom. I think of Mark when I wear the necklace and am honored to have something that he made. He was a skilled craftsman and I am sorry to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with Mark's family and everyone who knew him.

Mark knew how to be a calm and caring guy. The guy you could always count on for that top performance when it came to the music played on his baritone horn in our Maysville High School Band. I always said; you measure quality by the perfection you produce. Mark produced that quality. The Lord has received a quality performer. My prays are with the family.
