Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep by Clare Harner
Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning´s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there.
I did not die.

It's been 6 months today since you left us, Jeff. I don't understand how that can be, but that's what the calendar says, so it must be so. I hope you know how bereft I am and how empty my life is without you.

I want to remember my friend Jeff today, his birthday. I hope he knows I am singing the birthday song for him. He'd most likely have a good laugh at the croaky rendition and ask me how many Marlboro's I had. Missing him, loving him and remembering him.

Dear Eleanor:
I am writing to extend my deepest sympathies to you and your family. I was so very sad to hear about Jeffrey. Although I did not know him personally, I know you and that means he was a terrific young man.
You have long been a part of my life, my having known you since we were quite young, and you have always meant a great deal to me. It makes your loss especially painful to me as I sense the grief you must feeling.
Please let me know whether there is anything I can do to help during this difficult time. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I will light a candle for Jeffrey tonight.
