Alice Craig Douglas

Alice Craig Douglas, born on January 5, 1933, in Greenleaf, Kansas, entered eternal rest on February 14, 2025, in Tavares, Florida. She was a remarkable woman whose life spanned over nine decades, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and service to her community. Alice was the cherished daughter of Floyd J. and Ethel L. Craig, who instilled in her the values of hard work and compassion from a young age. She grew up in a loving household, surrounded by the warmth of her family's support. Throughout her life, Alice exemplified strength and resilience, traits that would guide her through many of life's challenges. In her professional journey, Alice made significant contributions during her tenure at the United States Army Missile Command, where she dedicated her expertise and commitment to service until her retirement in 1983. Her contributions to national defense were instrumental, and she carried the pride of her service with her throughout her life. Alice was not just a dedicated worker; she was also an active and valued member of her community. Her philanthropic spirit shone through her involvement with various organizations, including the Lions Club, Shriners Hospital International, and the American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary. She believed in the power of community service and devoted her time to helping those in need, leaving a lasting impact on the lives she touched. In her personal life, Alice was a devoted family member and friend. She was preceded in death by her dear family members Neil Flear, Joe Rayburn Short, Neil Flear, Jr., Richard Douglas, Jimmie Craig, Gayle Craig, James Vines and Dustin Vines. She is survived by her partner Charles Louis Winter, daughter Debra Kay Vines, grandchildren Nicole Black Vines and Travis Wade Vines, and great-grandchildren Christopher Vines, Robert Campbell, Austin Vines, Sloane Vines, and Zachary Vines. Each of them carries with them cherished memories of their time with Alice, who was not only a mother and grandmother but a guiding light in their lives. Alice enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, finding joy in hobbies such as playing bingo and trying her luck at the slot machines. These activities were more than just pastimes for her; they were opportunities to connect with friends and family, share laughter, and create memories. She had a playful spirit that endeared her to all who knew her. Alice Craig Douglas was a woman of incredible depth and kindness. Her laughter, her love, and her unwavering support of her family and friends will be deeply missed. As we remember her today, let us carry forward her legacy of generosity and spirit. A celebration of her life will be held in honor of her memory, and those who knew her are encouraged to share their stories and reminiscences, keeping her spirit alive in our hearts.
