Anthony Proviano Obituary

Anthony Proviano, lovingly known as "Tony" passed away at the age of 83 on May 19, 2025 in The Villages, Florida. Born on July 25, 1941, in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, Tony was the older sibling of his cherished late sister, Joanne (Husband Marvin) Zalevsky. Tony shared 62 beautiful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Roberta "Bobbie" Proviano. Their unwavering bond, built on laughter, loyalty, and a deep enduring love, was a shining example of true partnership-an inspiration to all who witnessed the beautiful life they created. Together, they raised two children: Mark (wife June) Proviano and Denise (husband Donald) Ormrod. He was a proud grandfather to Ryan, Jessica, Taylor, Max, Cassidee, and Austin. His legacy also lives on through his six great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins that brought joy to his life. Tony dedicated much of his life to hard work and service, spending 31 years working for the Port Authority of Allegheny County. When Tony and Bobbie relocated to The Villages, Florida in 2009, Tony continued his love for golf and became an ambassador at Mallory Hill Country Club. He and Bobbie were members of countless clubs, and for many years he was a player and coach for the Hemingway South Softball team. His professional life reflected his dependability, generosity and his individuality-qualities that carried over into every part of his life. An avid athlete, Tony loved playing softball and golf-and he passed that love down to his grandchildren, proudly teaching them how to play the game (even if they didn't always listen to his swing tips). He also had a passion for travel, always looking forward to trips and cruises-making unforgettable memories with those he loved most. But above all, family time was his greatest joy-whether it was traveling to Disney with his grandchildren, playing cards, cooking a meal for loved ones, or simply sharing laughs around the table. He was the kind of man you could count on-always ready to help, to listen, and give advice whether it was wanted or not. Tony and Bobbie never missed a birthday phone call, where Tony always made sure to sing as loud as he could. No matter how busy life got, Bobbie and Tony made sure their loved ones felt remembered and celebrated. That small, consistent act captured the heart of whom he was-thoughtful, reliable, and deeply loving. To those who knew him, Tony Proviano was more than a father or grandfather-he was our hero, a role model and a steady presence with a kind heart and a life full of love, humor, and integrity. In accordance with Tony's wishes, the family has chosen not to hold a service.
