Clara May Manning

Clara (Claire) May Manning, 91, of Dunnellon, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025. A celebration of her life will be held at First Dunnellon Methodist Church on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor Eddie Fulford. Claire was born in Queens, New York, on May 29, 1934. She graduated from Newtown High School and went on to earn her business degree from Packard Junior College. In 1955, she married the love of her life, Warren Manning, and together they shared 46 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and dancing. Claire and Warren's joy for life was evident to everyone who knew them - whether they were gliding across the dance floor, cruising the seas, or gathering with friends and family for a game of cards. Claire worked as an executive secretary, where her organization, poise, and attention to detail reflected her polished and professional nature. Beyond her career, she was an active volunteer, giving her time to the local hospital, hospice house, and the church thrift store. Her generosity and warm spirit touched many lives. Those who knew Claire will remember her as graceful, elegant, and full of life. She was known for her love of travel - taking more cruises than anyone could count - her sharp wit, and her tradition of greeting each day with makeup perfectly applied and a twinkle in her eye. She cherished good conversation, an evening glass of wine, and the joy of a lively card game. Claire is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce (Lori) of Dunnellon; her daughter, Lorraine of Dunnellon; four grandchildren, Andrea, Scott, Gabe, and Paula; and four great-grandchildren, Lucas, Dylan, Dorian, and Jason. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Warren; son-in-law, Paul; and her parents. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice House, whose compassionate care and support meant so much to Claire and her family.
