David Koerner Obituary

David Mitchel Koerner, 62, of Ocala, Florida, passed away on August 9th, 2025, in his home residence. David was born in Tampa, Florida, to Lavonne and William Koerner on May 9th, 1963. He went to high school at South Sumter High School and graduated in 1981. He went on to join the Armed Airforce Services and then went on to earn a degree in Culinary from Marion Technical Adult Education. He enjoyed singing, fishing, cooking, playing with his grandchildren, spending time with his friends and family, and mostly making people laugh. He was involved in the ALS foundation, AMVETS for VFW, and many other veteran supporting groups. David is survived by his wife, Sharon Koerner of Ocala, Florida, his daughter Ashley (Chris) Jones of Ocala, Florida, his son James Koerner of Morganton, North Carolina, his mother Lavonne Koerner of Kernerville, North Carolina, his siblings William (Le'Nea) Koerner III of Bushnell, Florida, Diana (Lee) Howard of Webster, Florida, Michael (Anita) Koerner of Kernerville North Carolina, his grandchildren Nena, Ariana, Christopher, Devin, Mya, and Melissa. He is preceded in death by his father William John Koerner, Jr. A funeral service will be held at Florida National Cemetery on August 26th, 2025, at 11:00am at 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida 33513. Roberts of Ocala Funerals and Cremations will be handling the funeral arrangements. Celebration of Life to be held afterwards at VFW Post 4209 (tank) at 4805 NE 36th Avenue, Ocala, Florida 34479. Let's remember David today and everyday as a God fearing man, proud veteran, devoted son, caring brother, loyal husband, loving father, fun grandpa, and forever friend.
