David Teichmann Obituary

David Teichmann, 93, of Ocala, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025. David is
survived by his son David L. Teichmann and daughter-in-law Sonia Moroder of Menlo Park,
California, son Stephen Teichmann of Laguna Niguel, California, and daughter Suzanne
Worthing of Broomfield, Colorado. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Elke Teichmann,
Katja Teichmann and Zachary Worthing.
Born in New York, New York, David grew up in New York and in the summers, on Lake
Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire. The son of a Lutheran minister, he studied at Trinity College
where he played basketball and later enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, attending Naval
Aviation Schools Command (NASC) in Pensacola, Florida, earning his "Wings of Gold". David
met his wife Thelma (Dennis) in Opa Locka, Florida during his first assignment as a United
States Marine Corps pilot. They married in April 1955.
As a military family, they lived in many states nationwide as well as in Japan and traveled all
over the world together via military aircraft and ocean liners. David and Thelma had a special
fondness for Hawaii, and after nearly thirty years of proudly serving in the military, David retired
with honors from duty with Commander-in-Chief, Pacific, Hawaii (CINCPAC) as a Lieutenant
Colonel to become the Chief Pilot for Royal Hawaiian Air Service, where he continued to fly until
1986.
They initially retired to Incline Village, Nevada, in the late eighties and after several cold winters
decided to settle in warmer Ocala, Florida, in the Oak Run Country Club community. From there,
Thelma and David continued their global travels, played golf and tennis, and enjoyed time with
family and friends until Thelma's passing in 2018. David continued to reside in Ocala, traveling
west often to visit his children and grandchildren. David's sister, Ruth Annunziato, and brother,
Reverend Frederick J. Teichmann, each predeceased him.
Services for David will be held at Trinity Lutheran in Gardnerville, Nevada, and an interment
celebration will follow graveside at Eastside Memorial Park in Minden, Nevada, on February 6,
2025.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David's name to the MDS Foundation or Light The
Night.

David:
I am very saddened by the passing of your father.
You may not remember, but I served with your father in Cherry Pt, Iwakuni, Japan and Vietnam. While we were in the Far East, you and your family lived in Corona del Mar with my family at 509 Narcissus.
My son Don also lives in Laguna Niguel. Perhaps you can look him up.
Again, our family extends or condolences to your family, with prayers to all.

I knew the Lieutenant Colonel for a number of years. He was always a gentleman and willing to help others. I'm proud to call him a Marine Corps brother. Semper Fi, Dave.
