Ella Gordon Obituary

"O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?" – 1 Corinthians 15:55 Ella Mae Gordon was born on November 1, 1946, in Orange Lake Florida to Thomas Gordon and Eva Mae Presley-Simmons. She was educated in the Marion County School System. Ella accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was united with the House of Prayer Church when she served as the mother of the Church. She was employed as a Head Farm Labor Contractor for forty years retiring in 2020. She had a passion for fishing, traveling and being a community caretaker. Her life was one of grace, love, and dedication, and her presence will be remembered by all who knew and loved her. A flower once bloomed so bright and fair, with petals soft and scent so rare. She swayed with life in morning's dew, a gentle soul, both strong and true. The Gardener, kind and wise, Looked down with mercy from the skies. He saw her beauty, pure and sweet, and chose to make His garden complete. Mother Ella Mae Gordon departed this life on Sunday, October 5, 2025. She now joins those that were awaiting her earthly transition. She was predeceased by her mother Eva Mae Presley Simmons; father, Thomas Gordon, Sr.; brothers, Wardell, David, Sr., Joseph Sr., Thomas, Jr., and Levi Gordon Sr.; sisters, Juanita Gordon and Luctricia Dove; daughter, Henritta Bess; grandson, Lawrence Griffin; granddaughter, Elizabeth Lee. Mother Ella Mae is survived by her daughters, Patsy Wesley of Gainesville, Janice Wesley of Ocala, Linda Lee, and Roxanne (Ronald) Watson both of Gainesville; sons, Charles Calhoun, Myron Calhoun and James Gordon all of Ocala, Defonsio (Jennifer) Daniels of St. Mary Georgia; 32 grandchildren; 79 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grand; 1 special grandson, Dyoni Hill of Ocala; 1 brother, George (Charlene) Simmons of Akron, Ohio; 3 sisters, Annie Sweet of Orange Lake, Katrina (Alphonso) Lamar of Ocala and Surwena (Tommy) Myers of Reddick; 3 sisters in law, Catherine Gordon of Reddick, Marilyn Gordon of Hawthorn and Sharon Gordon of Tampa; a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Having lived a life rich in faith, love, and quiet strength, she now rests in the joy of her heavenly home, reunited with the Lord she faithfully served and loved ones she once loved and missed. Public Viewing will be on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 1:00pm to 6:00pm at Summers Funeral Home, 2238 NW 10th St, Ocala, Fl 34475.
