Frank Steele Horner M.D.

Frank Steele Horner, MD passed away on August 24,2025 in Ocala, Florida at age 94. Frank, AKA "Jack" or "Doc", graduated from Turtle Creek High School (Pennsylvania) in 1949. While a student at the University of Pittsburgh, he was part of the Varsity Marching Band as well as several fraternity organizations and Wesley Fellowship. After earning an undergraduate degree in Chemistry, he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Medical School in 1957. He then served in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard. For many years, Frank had a family medical practice in Turtle Creek and was also the school physician 1958-2003. Although he retired to Ocala, Florida in 2003, he continued to spend summers in Ridgeview Park, Derry PA. There he was able to enjoy his passion for wildlife, nature, gardening, swimming, and hunting. Frank was well known for his great sense of humor and he loved telling a good story or a funny joke. He was also an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed traveling in his later years with companion Loretta Horner, who was by his side when he passed. Frank is survived by his sister Edna Horner (late John) Lightner, daughters Jill (John) Rangos, and Janet (Brett) Laughlin, son Jack (Meg) Horner and 7 grandchildren, Bob (late Lorraine), Robert & Julie Lamb, several nieces & nephews, as well as many good friends. He was preceded in death by parents Frank S Sr and Lula Belle Horner, sister Francis Horner (Jack) Fisher, and wife Mary Lou Lamb Horner. Frank touched many lives, and will be greatly missed. Memorial service details will be announced at a later date. If desired, contributions may be given in Frank's memory to Shriner's Hospitals for Children or the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association (WPGA) Scholarship Fund.
