Irene June Jones

Mrs. Irene June Jones (née Fossett), born on July 6, 1937, in Skowhegan, Maine, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, in Ocala, Florida. She was 88 years old. Irene was the daughter of Linwood Raymond Fossett and Violana June Fossett (née Kitchen). She grew up in Maine and graduated from Bangor High School with the Class of 1955. Her early years in New England instilled in her a lifelong love for the region, and she returned to Maine each summer throughout her life to visit with family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles R. Jones, Sr., with whom she shared many years of marriage and family life. Irene is lovingly remembered by her two sons: Charles R. Jones, Jr., and his wife Penny Jones (and former wife Deborah Cochran), and Michael W. Jones and his wife Georgia Jones. Her legacy continues through her three grandchildren-Melissa Jones (Sarah Gilkes), Danielle (Jones) Davis (Michael Davis), and Shawna Jones (Jesse Sampson)-and one great-grandson, Cooper Charles Davis. She is also survived by her sister Ramona Armstrong of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and her brother Earl Linwood Fossett of Lewiston, Maine. Irene was predeceased by her sister Joyce McLeod and brothers George Fossett, Charles Fossett, and Robert Wayne Fossett. A woman of many talents and interests, Irene found joy in gardening and took pride in nurturing her beautiful rose garden. She was also an avid porcelain doll crafter, creating delicate works that showcased both patience and artistry. Her love for travel led her to spend summers in Maine and enjoy cruises through the Caribbean. Her memory will be treasured by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her.
