James Keegan Obituary

**Obituary for James A. Keegan** It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of James A. Keegan, a remarkable individual who lit up the lives of everyone he encountered. Born on July 16, 1939, in Jewett City, Connecticut, James departed this world peacefully at his residence with his daughter, following a short stay in the hospital on January 4, 2025, in Belleview, Florida. James was a man of vibrant spirit, whose bubbly personality and innate ability to strike up a conversation made him a friend to all. He had a unique talent for lighting up any room he entered, and his humor brought joy to many within his community. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Keegan of Belleview, Florida, and his brother, Leon Fields of Norwich, Connecticut. His love for people extended to his special friends, including Gloria Hagstrom, her two daughters Elaine and Colleen, her two sons Carl Junior, John(Laurie) Hayes Hagstrom, as well as Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Kuper of Woodstock, Connecticut, and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond (Nyla) Smith of Bourbonnais, Illinois, Thomas Scott of Belleview, Florida and his companion Martha Bixby of Salem, Connecticut. who were like family to him during his later years. He had a special bond with his dog Mr. Peanut, that he and his daughter shared together. A passionate fan of NASCAR, James proudly supported fellow Connecticut native Joey Logano. He found immense joy in engaging with his community through his participation in local events, such as community BINGO at the VFW, where he forged lasting friendships with his neighbors. As a proud member of the Moose Club Lodge # 1014 in Ocala, he continued to embrace the camaraderie of friends and enjoyed many heartwarming moments. His warm-hearted nature and inherent kindness made him a beloved figure in the lives of his friends. As we remember James, we celebrate a life filled with laughter and warmth. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing. He will be dearly missed by everyone he met. In lieu of flowers, his daughter welcomes donations be made to the American Heart Association in James' name.

Pat, I'm so terribly sorry to read about Jimmy. My uncle, Pete Stafford, talked about your father ALL the time. I fondly remember him as I grew up. My uncle also talks about how wonderful you are. Could you please reach out to me via email at [email protected]? My uncle doesn't use a computer but I'd like to put you in touch with him via phone. I know it would mean the world to him. I just told him the sad news and he's heartbroken.

The memories that we shared growing up will last me a lifetime, and he truly was like a brother to me after his mom and dad Ray and Edith Keegan took me in at 16. One night we watched a horror movie about a doll and I was scared to death. The next morning I woke up and there were five dolls sitting on the edge of my bed, and freaked me out. I lived there 3 years and never saw a doll. As I rushed out of my room and into the hallway, there was about 50 dolls sitting on all the stairs. Mokm Edith Keegan it turns out ran a doll hospital in the old days. Jim was a great prankster, and I paid the price many times , but the love we shared for one another, proved that he was the best brother I could have ever had. So sorry Patty, and I know what he meant to you, so I am sending Love Hugs and Prayers to you
