John Thomas "JD" Dyer

John Thomas Dyer (JD), age 81, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, at the Ted and Diane Brandley Hospice House in Summerfield, Florida, after a brief illness. John was born on April 12, 1944, in Fort Benning, Georgia, the beloved son of the late John Dyer and late Ruby Rose Dyer. John was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Cowley; his brother, Pierre Titour; his nephew, Richard Richardson; and his lifelong dear friend, Gene Brown. He is survived by his children: Diane Patricia Dyer Fontaine (William) of Deland, Florida; Jonathan Lee Dyer (Tammie) of Hernando Beach, Florida; and Cynthia Ellen Dyer Madsen (Bjarne) of Orlando, Florida. He was the proud grandfather of Ellen Elizabeth Fontaine Sibley (Joshua), Rebecca Jane Fontaine, Alexandra Jane Madsen, and Helena Ingrid Madsen; and great-grandfather to Dakari Sage Perry and Lorilei Elizabeth Perry. John also leaves behind several loving nieces and nephews. John moved to Hollywood, Florida in the 1960s, where he met and married Jane Green. Together, they moved to Tavares, Florida in 1980. One of John's proudest accomplishments was helping to start and fund the Babe Ruth Program and Fred Stover Baseball Complex in Tavares. He was an avid horseman, a dedicated volunteer in various sports programs, and, above all, a devoted father. After his marriage to Jane ended, John became an over-the-road truck driver, embracing the adventure of traveling across the United States. He later married Frieda Brown, with whom he lived in South Florida. Following their divorce, John found his happy place in Ocala, Florida, where he became an active member of his new community. A military service will be held in Bushnell, Florida at a later date.
