He lived in port Byron NY for most of his life, moving to Florida in 2021. John spent his entire life looking out for others and striving to be the best roofing specialist he could be. Hackett II of Port Byron, NY; Grandchildren Matt and Haley; Son Michael (Priscilla) Shaffer of Rutherfordton, NC Grandchildren Autumn and Simon; Sisters Carolyn Robinson of Auburn, NY, Bonnie Gerehart of Elbridge, NY, and Jacquelyn Blaisdell of Valentines,VA; Brother Dustin Tanner of Tampa, FL and Step Mother Francis Hackett of Port Saint Lucie, FL. He also leaves behind many friends, cousins, nieces and nephews, some of whom brought him solace in his final days. John has chosen to stay with his wife until her passing in which time they will be buried together in Port Byron. There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, July 13, 2025 from 2-4pm at Potters Farm to Fork, 1951 New York Rt. 31, Port Byron, NY 13140 (Next to the School). No formal wear.
