Lorene King Obituary

Mrs. Lorene C. King, aged 90, passed away at home on Thursday, July 31, 2025. She was born on July 25, 1935, in Clay County, Georgia, to Will and Azzie Carter. After moving to Florida, she married and had nine children. Mrs. Lorene C. King represents the last of Nine (9) children born to Will and Azzie Carter. Lorene became a Christian early in life and was an active member of several churches, including Little Chapel United Methodist, Westly Chapel Methodist, and Greater Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. She valued Bible study and continued it until her health declined. Lorene, affectionately known as "Mom" by her family and friends, was born into a large family in Edison. From an early age, she demonstrated a strong commitment to her family and developed practical skills such as sewing out of necessity. She also enjoyed fishing whenever possible. Known to neighbors as "Mrs. Lorene," she became widely recognized for her exceptional culinary abilities. In addition to providing daily meals for her family, she was always generous in preparing enough food for unexpected guests. Her sweet potato pies, in particular, were especially well-regarded and appreciated by all who had the opportunity to enjoy them. Mrs. King worked as a cook at New Horizon Nursing Home for many years until she retired. She was preceded in death by two children Victor L. King and Azzie Lee King-Hill: four grandchildren; CorDarrian and CorDerica Hill, Latia T. Franklin and Gabriel Stevenson; one great grand Bobby Burley III. Siblings: Christine Carter, Evelyn Lowe, Grace Goodman, Thelma Collins (Herman), Willie Carter Jr, Emmanuel (Moses) Carter, Albert Carter, (Deacon) Pertie Charles Carter. She leaves to cherish: Delonia Hicks (Michael) Tampa Fl, Gwen Nixon (Orange- deceased), Jacqueline Franklin (Albert-deceased), Mazella Tomlin (Edward-deceased), Albertha King, Raymond King III (Carolyn), John S. Nobles (Valerie); all of Ocala Fl. Bonus Children: 10 of which two are deceased.
