Lynn Bausher Obituary

Lynn Shafer Bausher, 70, passed away, with her family in her heart, on June 06, 2025 in Fort Myers, Florida. Lynn was born in 1954 in Penn Hills, PA where she grew up and attended high school. She was a graduate of Slippery Rock University. Lynn lived in several states during her life including California, Virginia, Florida, Michigan and Illinois. Wherever she lived she developed and maintained many lifelong friendships. She retired in 2016 after 13 years as a special education teacher at Lake Orion (MI) high school. While at Lake Orion spent several years, and countless volunteer hours, in charge of the Special Olympics program as well as coaching several of the sports. Lyn was an avid outdoor and sports enthusiast and a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She was excellent swimmer (swam in all five Great Lakes), played water polo, softball and soccer. Lyn ran in and completed the Pittsburgh marathon, hiked rim to rim to rim in the Grand Canyon and water skied in the Indian Ocean and she recently realized a lifelong goal of visiting all 50 states capped by a cruise and land tour of Alaska where another goal of seeing the "northern lights" was achieved. Lyn was the daughter of Donald and Martha (Cole) Shafer who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her beloved son Keith in 2018. Lynn is survived by her husband Pete Bausher, her brother Donnie Shafer in Pennsylvania, by two sons, Cole and Craig Hillstrom in Michigan and by a daughter Kira Setchell in Illinois. There are also four grandchildren, Dagen and Lumen Setchell and Holli and Niko Hillstrom. Always and forever in our hearts.
