Richard Lee Jones

Richard L. Jones was born on January 1, 1959, to the late Willie Jones and Rhoda L. Jones in Raleigh, FL.
Richard accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and later united with Debose Chapel UMC where he served as an Usher and Chairman of Trustee Board.
He received his formal education in the public schools of Marion County, graduating from Vanguard High School Class of 1977. He enlisted into the United States Marines Corp and was honorably discharged on October 21, 1981. He furthered his education at Central Florida Community College (CFCC).
Richard L. Jones was united in holy matrimony with Valerie V. Johnson in September of 1987 in Ocala, FL. He was employed by Closet Maid (Ames) as a Logistics Manager for 30 plus years. In his leisure time, he enjoyed reading, traveling, and committing to his church.
On Friday, October 24, 2025, God in His infinite wisdom called and Richard L. Jones answered by stepping beyond the veil of this life, the memory of him will forever live on, in laughter remembered, in moments cherished, and in the hearts of those who loved him most. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, Willie and Rhoda Jones; brothers, Sylvester Jr. and Elliott Cox; sisters, Shirley Riley and Sarah Johnson.
Though words can never fully capture the depth of his journey, we celebrate a life well-lived and honor the many ways Richard enriched the lives of those around him. His memory will continue to inspire and comfort us in the days ahead.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 38 years Valerie L. Jones; brother, Willie "Bill" Jones (Doris); father-in-law: Abraham Johnson Sr; sisters-in-law: Shana Johnson Smith (Daron) and Sylvia Johnson: brothers-inlaw: Walter Johnson Sr., Herman Coney, Manuel Terrell (Pamela), and Abraham Johnson Jr. (Theresa); his boys, Zachary, Ted and Ernest; his girls, Latea Edwards, Morghan, Zhana, Zaron, Kyzer, A'lahni, Dhem Ushers, JaNyria and TeAunah; and a host of nieces, nephews, and sorrowing friends.
Public Visitation will be held on Saturday November 1, 2025, at 9:30am until service time at Debose Chapel United Methodist Church.
Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday November 1, 2025, at 11:00am at Debose Chapel United Methodist Church, 2570 NW 145th Street, Citra, FL 32113.
