Alice Canty

Alice Faye Ray Galloway Canty, 74, of 37 Yadkin Rd, died Friday October 10, 2025, at Atrium Wake Forest Medical Hospital of Winston-Salem, NC. Alice was a native of Asheville and the daughter of the late Gaynelle Ray Galloway and Herbert P. Galloway. She was a graduate of Allen High School and later earned her degree at Asheville-Buncombe Technical College. She was formerly employed by Asheville City School System. Alice was a member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, where she was on the Gospel Choir. She was preceded in death her father, Herbert P. Galloway; her mother, Gaynelle Ray Galloway; her brother, Preston Calvin Galloway; her sister, Veronica Galloway; and her grandson, Kenneth J. Canty. Left to cherish her memory are husband, Willie Roy Canty of the home: sons; Roger L. Canty (Teresa Canty), Rodney K. Canty (Rachel Canty), Royce S. Canty (Carletta Canty); grandchildren; Gregory Canty (Claudia Canty), Sean Canty, Darian Canty, Davian Canty (Aliyah Canty), Leah Thompson, Asia Williams, Briahna Canty, Zayda Canty, Daylen Canty, Tahlea Canty, great-grandson; Kenston Edwards; nieces; Vernette Griffin, Karonda Edwards, Rana Spann, Lucy Ford, Gerald Hastie, Eunice Ford, Antoinette Brown, Drew Galloway; nephews, Danny Ford, Renard Ford, Mark Ford, Marcus Spann, Maurice Spann, Lamont Brown, Jason Inman; cousin; Veronica F. Jackson; God daughters, Veronica 'Roni' Jackson, Shamya Jackson; special friend, Barbara Lewis; along with a host of family and friends. Public viewing will be from 2:00-6:00pm Friday, October 17, 2025 in the chapel of Ray Funeral & Cremation Service. Funeral service will be 11:00am Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Williams Branch Cemetery.
