Brian Matthews Obituary

Brian David Matthews passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025, following an accidental fall. Mr. Matthews was born on May 17, 1962 in Jackson, MI, to Monica S. Matthews and to the late Leo Jack Matthews. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Christopher L. Matthews. Brian was a proud, 1980 Graduate of T.C. Roberson High School. He enjoyed hiking, canoeing, camping, and fishing, as well as a wide variety of sports. He was a lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers and of the Detroit Lions. Brian was exceptionally kind-hearted. He loved his family, his many friends, and his numerous pets. He is survived by his loving mother, Monica S. Matthews; his two brothers, Timothy M. Matthews and Mark R. Matthews; his sister and loving confidant, Julie N. Matthews; four nieces and one nephew; and by other extended family members and friends. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, Candler, celebrated by Fr. Dean Cesa. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, to Meals On Wheels, or to NAMI.

Ms. Matthews, Mark and Julie,

I'm so sorry for your loss of Brian. I got acquainted with Jack, Marc and Brian at the photo shop on Charlotte St. many moons ago. Brian was always quiet.
I too am a Michigan native, born in Detroit. Shhhh, not for public knowledge.

It bothers me that he passed from a terrible accident. You all will be in my thoughts and prayers for a quick grief period.
