Elaine Louis Anderson - 97 of Sylva, NC passed away peacefully on 10/1/25. Elaine was born on Feb. 25, 1928 in Teaneck, NJ to the late Catherine and Alfred Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert John Anderson, her brother, Louis Smith, and her beloved dog Casey. She leaves behind sons Robert John Anderson, Jr. (wife, Sharon) and Richard Anderson (wife, Joanne). Grandchildren: Jessica Graning (husband, Ben), Ryan Anderson (wife, Erin), Jaclyn DiPopolo (husband, Remo), Brooke Rys (husband, Michael). Great-grandchildren: Caden, Abram,and Maddox Graning, Mary and Lucy Anderson, Madison DiPopolo, Leah and Tyler Rys. 4 nieces, 3 grandnephews, and 1 grandniece. Elaine was secretary at Smith School in Saddle Brook, NJ for over 20 years. She also was a secretary in Egg Harbor Township, NJ for over 10 years. In her later years, Elaine became an avid fan of Western Carolina athletics, and one of her greatest memories was taking her family to Ireland. Elaine had a life devoted to serving others. Funeral services are at Carolina Memorial Sanctuary in Mills River, NC on 10/8/25 at 11:00.
