Gene Steinhoff Obituary

Gene Ruth Steinhoff, age 76, of Candler, NC, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at her residence with her loved by her side. Gene was born on November 20, 1948 in at Beth Israel Hospital in Essex, NJ to the late Samuel Steinhoff and Ethel Beatrice Feinsliver Steinhoff. She graduated from Columbia High School and went on to earn her bachelor's degree in Spanish from South Hampton College. Over the last 20 plus years Gene has lived in Knoxville and the surrounding areas until settling down in Candler. She spent many years working for Sears in vacuum sales but was most happiest working on a cross word puzzle or going to yard sales to find treasures. She was of Jewish faith. In addition to her parents she is proceeded in death by her sister Janet Holinaro. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her siblings Mark Steinhoff of Tampa, FL, David Steinhoff and Jaye Schlermger of Ann Arbor, MI, Jeff and wife Stacey Singer of Florida, Richard and wife Lori Steinhoff of Candler. Services will be announced at a later time. The family respectfully ask that in lieu of flowers a donation to a charity be made in Genes honor.
