John Adell

John Rufus Adell, son of the late Rufus and Maggie Pertiller Adell, was born on September 17, 1927 in Fletcher, NC and ended his journey of life on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the age of 98 years old. John was employed with Biltmore Estate as a Maintenance Supervisor with over 30 years of service. After retirement, John continued his passion for lawn maintenance. John was allowed an opportunity to groom his lawn one last time before he departed this earth. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys R. Adell; two sons, John Kenneth and Jerry Thomas Adell; brothers, Garfield Pertiller, Columbus Pertiller, Joe James Adell, Charles Adell, Horace Adell, Sr., Robert Adell; sisters, Arsonia Adell McDowell and Alice Adell Pea. Left to cherish his memory are children, Darlene Adell Miller (Earl) of Greenville, SC and Patricia Adell of Fletcher, NC; grandchildren, Leah Miller and Ty Adell Besses; sister, Hattie Adell Mills; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral service will be 1:00pm Thursday, October 16, 2025 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with public viewing one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery.
