Lora Coffey Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Lora Herron Coffey announce her passing on March 21, 2025. Lora was the first daughter born to Lew and Jo Herron in Rutherfordton, NC on October 16, 1952. She was followed by a sister Carol and their brother Ed. The family moved to Lake Junaluska in 1962 where they enjoyed a wonderful childhood growing up by the beautiful lake in the mountains. Lora graduated from Tuscola High School in 1962 and moved to Asheville where she met her future husband, Preston Coffey. They were married on June 17, 1977 and enjoyed many years of traveling and camping. Unfortunately, Preston passed away in December 2018. She is survived by her sister Carol O'Neal (Greg), brother Ed Herron (Karen), two nieces Amy Herron and Callie Herron (Alex), one nephew Brett Herron and one grandniece, Eloise. She was a very special person and will be sadly missed by all. She will be interred in a private family ceremony in Mars Hill, NC. A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the Harrell Center at the Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center at 61 N. Lakeshore Dr., Lake Junaluska, NC 28785. Street parking is available. It will be held on the second-floor balcony and meeting room. A reception with light refreshments will begin at 3pm and be followed by a video, eulogy, and the opportunity to share memories. Condolences may be sent to Ed Herron, 4155 Black Oak Rd., Hickory, NC 28602, (828) 234-7434, or @ [email protected]
