Ruby Lucille Laughter Pruitt, age 93, of Hendersonville, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025. As we remember Ruby's remarkable journey through life, we celebrate a legacy marked by devotion, service, and love. Born on December 21, 1931, in Hendersonville, Ruby dedicated herself to the Henderson County community for many years as the Retired Postmaster at the Balfour Post Office. Her commitment to serving others extended beyond her professional life into her spiritual and personal endeavors.
A cornerstone of the Balfour Baptist Church in Hendersonville for over 70 years, Ruby touched countless lives as a cherished preschool teacher and as an adult remedial teacher. Through her unwavering faith and dedication, she helped nurture the hearts and minds of many, leaving an indelible impact on everyone who knew her.
Ruby was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Edward Pruitt; her daughter, Phyllis Moore; her parents, Lloyd Manning and Martha Peahuff Laughter; her sister, Connie Adeline Laughter Rhymer; and her son-in-law, Butch Cabe. Her memory will be carried forward by her loving children, Lynn Pruitt (Randy), Richard Pruitt (Lisa), and Sidney Pruitt (Martha); her grandchildren, Jason (Jen), Josh, Jacob (Corrie), Jessica, Erich, Rachel (Chris), Mason, Elijah, Rebecca, K.C., Breana (Jacob), Latoya, David (Shayla), Tommy (Lauren), Benjamin, Sarah, and Bethany; her great-grandchildren, Chloe, Josie, Ethan (Crystal), Tiffany, Levi, Hadleigh, Arden, Brooklyn, Damien, Makaiah, Dillon, Caleb, Taylor, Erin, Christopher, Noah, Arlow, Caden, Paisley, Raven, Edith, Inman, Dryman, Lee, Carter, Carson, Chandler, Camryn, Liam, and Bentley; great-great-grandchildren, Maddox, Mallorie, Amarie, Willow, Amelia, MJ, Jade, Kamara, and Romani; and her son-in-law, Freddie Moore.
Funeral services to honor Ruby's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Balfour Baptist Church, with Reverend Joe Lund and Pastor Jacob Moore officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church, beginning at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Baptist Children's Home or to Four Seasons Hospice, reflecting Ruby's enduring passion for nurturing and caring for others.
