Daniel Sikes Obituary
Daniel E. Sikes, 41, of Lafayette, IN, transitioned from this world on Saturday, October 11, with loved ones by his side.
At a young age, Dan knew he wanted to be a wrestler, and he indeed became a local favorite semi-pro wrestler known as Marc Houston and part of a duo team, Ax Men. Dan loved the performance part of wrestling, especially when his character could rouse the crowd to cheer or boo. The physical demands of wrestling meant a LOT of weight training and that became his second passion, which he then shared with others as a bodybuilding/fitness trainer. The person he was most excited to train was his sister, who wanted to lose weight and be fit enough to go skydiving!
Milestones include: two years served in Indiana National Guard; Graduate diploma, Harrison High School, 2002; Associate Degree, Ivy Tech, 2014; Bachelor Degree, Rasmussen College, 2015; MBA, Purdue University, 2021. As a constant learner, Dan turned his passions into careers and businesses: accounting, personal trainer, office manager, sales manager, event manager at Lafayette Theater. Most recently, because of his passion for his own dogs (Gabbie and Hunter), he began a dog-care business named Pawsitive Vibes Only.
Dan was a compassionate man who loved people and was a supporter of LGBTQ and abortion rights. As a candidate for Indiana House of Representative, District 41, he listened to residents and wanted to make a difference for them. Even when people disagreed with him in a hateful manner, he just shrugged it off, but if they wanted to debate, he was up for the challenge.
Dan was born February 17, 1984, to Edward and Carolyn (Susie) Sikes and was the new baby brother to Elizabeth. He was preceded in death by both his mother and sister and is survived by his father; beloved partner, Sara Milligan and her son Henry.
