Betty Scott Obituary
Betty S Scott, a beacon of love and laughter, was born to Arthur and Myrtle Sullenbarger on May 5, 1929, in Greensboro, Pennsylvania. Her journey through life was a testament to her unwavering faith and the joy she found in every moment. On April 7, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona, Betty was called home just a month before her 96th birthday, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, humor, and deep spiritual devotion.
Betty's early life laid the foundation for the incredible woman she would become. Sister to Dorothy, Emalene, Edna, Schuyler, and Edith, she learned the values of family, hard work, and community. Though Dorothy and Emalene predeceased her, the bond they shared continued to inspire Betty throughout her life.
In 1958, Betty, a young woman full of dreams and determination, loaded up the kids and moved to Phoenix with the love of her life, Robert Paul Scott. Their marriage was a testament to devotion and commitment. Together, they raised their children, Robert Paul Scott Jr. and Linda Kay Fleck in a home filled with love, laughter, and faith. Betty's son-in-law, Gary Fleck, became an integral part of their family, and she cherished the bond they shared.
Her role as a grandmother to Sonya Ramsey, Troy Fleck, and Tracy Fleck was one that she embraced with enthusiasm and pride. The joy of her life multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandchildren Brittney, Junior, Shane, Shawde, Colby, Tripp and Reese and she was blessed to witness the expansion of her lineage with six great-great-grandchildren.
Professionally, Betty dedicated 25 years to the City of Phoenix, Real Estate Department. Her work ethic, integrity, and passion for service made her a respected team member. Her colleagues knew her as a woman of principle, always ready to lend a hand or share a word of encouragement.
In 1995 after 45 years of marriage Betty lost her beloved husband, Paul. Life was different after that and then in 2015 Betty's son Bob passed away unexpectedly, which was a tremendous loss to the family. Betty leaned into her faith to carry on. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, providing her with strength and guiding her through life's trials and triumphs. She was a Godly woman whose devotion knew no bounds. As a prayer warrior, she believed in the power of faith to heal, guide, and comfort, and she shared this belief through her actions every day. She taught us that every challenge is an opportunity for growth and that faith can move mountains.
Her love for family and friends was a bond unbroken by time or distance. Betty's sense of humor was infectious, lifting the spirits of all who were fortunate enough to cross her path and her quick wit was sure to make you smile. She was a living example that the best way to navigate life's journey is by embracing each day with a smile, a prayer, and an open heart. Let us honor her memory by living our lives with the same love, humor, faith, and generousity that she embodied.
