Elizabeth Durham Obituary
Elizabeth "Betty" Durham, age 89, of Scottsdale, Arizona, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025.
Born in 1935 in Omaha, Nebraska, and raised in Hastings, Nebraska, Betty lived a full and vibrant life surrounded by family and friends who loved her dearly. She attended the University of Nebraska, where she was a proud member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. After college, she worked as a stewardess for United Airlines before retiring to raise her family. Throughout her life, Betty generously donated her time to several charitable organizations in the cities where she lived.
She traveled extensively and lived in several cities, including Chicago, Seattle, Honolulu, Kansas City, Grosse Pointe, Michigan, and Carefree, Arizona, where she and her late husband, Jim, retired in 1989. Betty was also an avid golfer and a member of several country clubs throughout her life, where she built lasting friendships both on and off the course.
Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth, kindness, and humor touched everyone she met. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Durham Baer (husband Bill) of Scottsdale, Ann Durham Coussens (husband Jim) of Lee's Summit, Missouri, and Cheri Milhomme of Camano Island, Washington; affectionately known as "Mooma" to her grandchildren, Liz (husband Drew), Carson, Ally, Lexi, Chelsea, and Emily (husband Max), Jamie, and Max; her great-grandchildren Hudson, Arena, and Alpine; and three nieces and one nephew and their families.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Durham; her son, Brian; her parents, Bill and Elna Bock; and her sister, Kiki McCullough.
A loyal sports fan, Betty loved cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Kansas City Chiefs, and Arizona Diamondbacks, and she rarely missed a game. She also loved her Scotch, often enjoying a glass while relaxing with family and friends.
Betty will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, generous heart, and the joy she brought to every gathering.
A celebration of life will be held on November 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Pinnacle Presbyterian Church in Scottsdale, Arizona.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating to Hospice of the Valley in Scottsdale, Arizona or Pinnacle Presbyterian Church in Scottsdale, Arizona in Betty's memory, or cheering on the Huskers, Chiefs, and Diamondbacks, just as she would have wanted.
A Hui Hou, Betty – "until we meet again."
