Garrett Stephens Obituary

In Loving Memory of Garrett Rodney Stephens July 31, 2003 – September 14, 2025 Garrett Rodney Stephens, affectionately known as "G" or "G-Rod," was born on July 31, 2003, in Glendale, Arizona to Rodney and Shelli Stephens. From the start, Garrett brought light, laughter, and love into the world. He grew up with his two older sisters, Madison and Joleigh, and in 2013, welcomed his little sister, Melody, who quickly became one of his greatest joys. Through life's journey, Garrett was also blessed with extended siblings - Madison, Antonio, and Sofia - who added to the bonds of family he cherished deeply. His mother Shelli was also remarried to Kyle Ague in 2013 who he bonded with immediately and loved as a bonus dad. Garrett's childhood was filled with energy and adventure. He played soccer, football, basketball, and volleyball, excelling at each with natural talent. He also raced BMX, rode dirt bikes, snowboarded, fished and loved video games - hobbies that carried into his adult life. No matter what he tried, Garrett had a way of mastering it, often with a grin and his easy humor that made people love being around him. In June 2022, on the way to meet his newborn nephew, Cameron, Garrett rescued a dog from the side of the road. He named her Tega after the freeway exit where they met, and from that moment, they were inseparable. Tega became his loyal companion and best friend, and the bond they shared was unshakable. As he grew older, Garrett found peace in simple joys. He loved fishing, golfing, riding or working on his dirt bike, and spending time with friends and family. Family meant everything to Garrett. He was a proud and loving uncle to his nephews, Ryder Emry and Cameron McLaughlin, and his newest niece, Billie McLaughlin. Becoming an uncle brought out his protective and playful side, and he embraced the role with pride. Garrett attended Sandra Day O'Connor High School, with his senior year shaped by the challenges of Covid. After high school, he began working alongside his father, Rodney, as a plumbing technician. He learned the trade with determination, gaining skills and respect across every company he worked for. Garrett was a quick learner, a sharp problem solver, and proud of the work he accomplished. He always received glowing reviews from his customers. Raised in a Christian home, Garrett carried faith in his heart and had recently found his way back to church. It gave him strength and peace as he navigated the ups and downs of life. Garrett will always be remembered as kindhearted, hilarious, generous, and brave. Though he faced struggles, he never stopped persevering. His days were filled with the things he loved most - working hard, fishing, riding, playing basketball with friends, spending time at church, gaming, hanging out with family, and being with Tega. Garrett is survived by his parents, Rodney Stephens and Shelli Stephens; his stepfather, Kyle Ague; his sisters, Madison Jowers, Joleigh Stephens, and Melody Hovel; his extended siblings, Madison, Antonio, and Sofia; his nephews, Ryder and Cameron; his niece, Billie; and his beloved dog, Tega. He also leaves behind countless family members and friends who will forever carry his laughter and love in their hearts. Though his life ended far too soon, Garrett's spirit will live on in every memory, every story, and every heart that he touched.
