Gary Deak Obituary

Gary Frank Deak, 81, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025, surrounded by family in Scottsdale, Arizona. Born in Buffalo, New York, on December 18, 1943, Gary grew up with a strong sense of discipline, determination, and quiet confidence. A standout athlete at Arcadia High School Class of 1961, he earned recognition as the school's quarterback and a talented southpaw pitcher. His athleticism and work ethic took him to the University of Arizona, where he continued playing baseball while earning his degree. Following graduation, Gary served honorably in the United States military, stationed in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. His time in the service shaped a lifelong commitment to discipline, integrity, and public service. Gary embarked on a distinguished federal career that spanned decades. He began as a Postal Inspector, dedicating himself to upholding the law and ensuring trust in the postal system. Later, he served with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, conducting investigations to safeguard federal programs. His career culminated as an investigator for the Department of Defense, where his professionalism and commitment earned him numerous awards and respect among his peers. In 1967, Gary married his beloved wife, Dottie, a partnership rooted in quiet devotion and mutual respect that lasted 52 years until her passing in 2019. Together, they raised two sons, Brian and Darrel, instilling in them the values of hard work, honesty, and loyalty. Gary lived his life without the need for attention or applause. He didn't seek the spotlight, but he earned respect through consistency, integrity, and loyalty. He was a man who valued routine, loved his family deeply, and approached life with a thoughtful, grounded perspective. Gary is survived by his sons Brian (Roseann) and Darrel (Sherry); grandchildren Christopher (Ashtyn), Nicholas, Darby and Macy; and great-grandchildren Dawson and Halston. He also leaves behind his sisters Nora and Debbie, and brother-in-law Terry (Yvonne). Gary's home was shared with his cherished cats, Orphan, Princess and Peanut, loyal companions who brought him comfort and joy. Though reserved by nature, Gary's dry wit and steady presence endeared him to all who knew him. He will be remembered not just for what he did, but for who he was -steadfast, humble, and wholly authentic. His was a life well-lived, in all the ways that matter most. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 11:00am at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Rd., Scottsdale, AZ 85251. The service will be live streamed at: http://liveviralmedia.com/clients/Deak.
