Gaston Ramirez Obituary

Gaston "Rick" H Ramirez, Jr. Gaston "Rick" H Ramirez, Jr. was a remarkable individual whose life was marked by dedication, hard work, and a profound love for his family and community. He graduated in 1971 from East High School and joined the Army in 1972, where he served honorably until his discharge in 1975. Following his military service, Rick attended Gateway Community College in Phoenix, AZ, for two years. For over two decades, Rick was a revered figure in the trucking industry. He owned and operated his own truck, navigating the roads of Arizona, New Mexico, and California. His career later took him across the country and into Canada, working for various trucking companies over 22 years. Beyond his professional endeavors, in his personal life rick enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and loved watching his old western movies. He was a skilled craftsman who built onto his home and spent hours working on his cherished 1965 El Camino. Rick was well-known for his generosity and willingness to help others. At campsites, he was affectionately called the "go-to man" for parts, always ready to lend a hand to those in need. Rick is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Margaret, and their son Ricky. He leaves behind six beloved grandchildren, his mother June, and siblings Tony, Brenda, Regina, and Alex. A funeral service will take place on March 21 at 9:30 AM at the National VA Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ. Rick's legacy of kindness, hard work, and dedication to his family and community will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever remembered and cherished. May he rest in peace. I met Rick through Frank in 1968. I went to Gerard High School but spent a lot of time at East High. Also Thomas Mall was a hang out at that time. I would stop by his home from time to time and his parents were so welcoming. He loved working on his El Camino. He was a great friend. We would talk for hours. I lost touch with him for many years but reconnected in 2018. I was invited to Rick & Margaret“s home and felt so welcomed. In 2019 my husband and I went to a Birthday party for Rick. He was surprised. Sadly that would be the last time I would see Rick. I have lots of special memories of Rick and I will treasure them forever. I will miss you my friend.

Rick and I met at East High School in '68 and stayed good friends since then. Rick joined the Military in '72 and I got drafted in September of that year...we ended up being stationed in Europe only 30 clicks from each other. We got together many times there as Rick had bought an early '60s VW bug so we cruised to many small towns which of course all had Breweries as we enjoyed local Beers. Spent alot of time at the Ramirez family home eating good food there and enjoying their hospitality. Felt like home to me ! Take care Rick...Vaya con Dios ol friend !
