John Joseph Slattery Jr., passed away peacefully on the 10th of August, 2025, in his native city of Phoenix, Arizona. Born on December 27, 1943, John's journey through life was marked by an infectious sense of humor, a spirit of adventure, and humorous stories.
John's early years were spent in the city of his birth, where he also completed his education, graduating from Phoenix Union High School. It was there that he formed the foundations of a lifelong commitment to hard work and dedication. His career as a skilled welder spanned more than 35 years, working with esteemed companies such as Connors, Garrett, Air Research, Allied Signal, and Honeywell. His hands, strong and steady, contributed to the growth and innovation of the industry until his well-earned retirement.
Beyond his professional life, John was a man of many passions. His love for farming spoke of his deep connection to the earth and the cycles of life. The great outdoors was his sanctuary, and he found joy in hunting, camping, and feeling the wind on his face while riding motorcycles. Each activity was an opportunity for John to create and share stories, a testament to his interesting life and his ability to captivate an audience.
Family was the cornerstone of John's existence. He was a husband too his late wife, Charlotte, and dedicated to sharing his love for adventure and his craziness for fun with his children. He also experienced the loss of his son, Golden. His surviving sons, Bob and Joe, and daughters, Tracey and Karla And grandchildren. Each of them carries a piece of John's legacy, humor, and adventurous spirit.
Those who knew John would describe him as funny, always ready with a joke or a quip to lighten the mood. He was adventurous, never shying away from a chance to explore or try something new. Above all, he was interesting-a man whose life stories could fill countless evenings with laughter, awe, and unbelievable stories.
John leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire and influence everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. His stories will live on, told and retold by those who shared in his adventures, and his memory will be cherished in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
