Joseph Armond Obituary
Joseph M. De Armond Jr., 69, of Peoria, Arizona passed away peacefully at home on June 19, 2025.
Joe was born September 30, 1955 in Huntington Park, California to Joe De Armond Sr. and Jo Ann De Armond (Gatz). He was raised by Doris De Armond and Joe Sr. and had six siblings: Dave, Nick, Honey, Brenda, Chris, and Willa. Joe married Brenda De Armond (Zimmerman) on September 16, 1989. They raised three children, Jason De Armond (Big J), Jason Klug (Little J), and Amanda De Armond.
He went to Warren High School in Downey, California and graduated in 1973. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served six years as Air Patrol. Joe proudly worked for Riverside County Sheriff for 35 years and retired as a Lieutenant in September 2005. That year, Joe, Brenda, and Amanda moved to Peoria, Arizona. In his retirement, Joe loved serving his community, especially by supporting youth sports. He volunteered for Liberty High School athletics for 10 years, and Sunrise Mountain High School athletics until his passing. In April 2010, he was awarded Volunteer of the Year by Peoria Unified School District for his dedicated service as an announcer and score keeper for girls and boys sports.
Joe was a beloved man in his various roles and relationships: father, husband, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, father-in-law, friend, and mentor. Lovingly known as Daddoe, Mickey, and Joey, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda (Brielle), in September 2023, parents, nephew, Michael, and brother, Nick. He is survived by his wife, Brenda; sons, Big J, and Little J (Lizette); grandchildren (Bradley [Pacey] and Adeline); great-granddaughters, (Kinsleigh, Blakeleigh, Paislynn); siblings Dave (Kathy), Honey, Brenda (Dale), Willa (Jesse), and Chris; and his two fur babies, Layla and Jax.
Joe was a friend to many, and was known for his generosity, charisma, handiness, commitment to his loved ones, stubbornness, and thoughtful gestures. Joe loved his morning trips to McDonald's, his Sunday morning visits with his BBD, watching sports from his comfy armchair with Layla on his lap, keeping in touch with old friends and colleagues, tinkering around with the latest home improvement project, chatting with the friends he made who worked at his neighborhood grocery stores and pharmacies, and striking up a conversation with most anyone.
