Joseph William "Joe" Porter

Joseph William Porter, age 70, passed away peacefully in Mesa, Arizona, surrounded by loved ones who will carry his memory with them always. Born on September 8, 1954, in Winter Haven, Florida, Joe lived a life marked by strength, deep loyalty, and unwavering love for his family. A proud U.S. Army veteran, he served as a lab technician before beginning a remarkable 35+ year career at Boeing, where he was known for his dedication, integrity, and professionalism. Joe had a passion for photography, a love for the open road on his Harleys, and a collector's eye for the unique - from guns and knives to watches and cigars, each piece came with a story he loved to share. He especially enjoyed connecting with others who shared his interests. And when it came to movies, anything space-related was a favorite - but if you asked him, Star Wars always had a special place in his heart. Though he never got the son he joked about wanting, Joe was a proud "girl dad" through and through. He was blessed with five daughters - Victoria Porter (who preceded him in death), Meghan Puckett (husband Mike), Amy Porter, Taylor Porter, and Cassandra Porter - and three granddaughters: Jillian, Cecilia, and Sieanna. The family often joked that he was "surrounded by women," but it was clear he wouldn't have had it any other way. His girls were his greatest pride. He is also survived by his sister, Susan Porter (son Nicholas Cobb), and his brother, Jeff Porter (wife Christina). He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Blanche Porter. Joe was a friend to everyone he met and had a remarkable way of making people feel seen and special. His sense of humor, sharp wit, and steady presence will be missed beyond measure by all who knew and loved him. Memorial service will be held in Arizona August 8th – 3pm – 6pm at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery – 7900 E Main St, Mesa, AZ 85207.
