Julia Nusser Obituary

Julia McGuire Nusser, a long-standing member of Sun City West and Church on The Green passed away on October 30, 2024, at the age of 87. Originally from Stilwell, Oklahoma, Julia had been an Arizona resident since the age of six. The youngest of six children from Myrtle Arvonia Lee and Oliver Roland Lee, Julia Pauline Lee was born on July 22, 1937, during great hardship and poverty in this country. With four older brothers and one older sister, Julia always told the story of how food was scarce by the time it reached her and her brother closest to her in age. They were both the shortest of the six siblings. Julia said mom always kept a garden and they ate lots of turnips. But being barely 5 feet tall just made Julia more determined not to be overlooked, and with her feisty and resilient nature she forged her way in life her way. She was an athlete, an avid reader, loved history, and this love instilled in her a lifelong pursuit of knowledge and learning. Along with history she was interested in health and nutrition, art and design, and travel and culture. Though Julia married young and had children early, she persevered with her education, getting her GED and years later attended Phoenix College, completing an AA degree. She became a longtime member of the women's group, AGLO, and was their secretary for several years at Church on The Green. She also received training in the laying on of hands and served proudly in the Healing Room for many years. This work became some of the most meaningful of her life. Julia's love of fellowship with family and friends around the dinner table, right to the end, provided quality sustenance for the body and souls of all who were fortunate to know her, even if just for a little while. Julia's faith and her outlook on life of positivity, perseverance, and resilience leaves a lasting impression on all the hearts of her family and loved ones. Her strong presence in the world will be sorely missed. She is preceded in death by her parents: Myrtle Arvonia Lee and Oliver Roland Lee. Her siblings: Glenn Lee, Maxwell Lee, Ruby Patrick, Henry Dewey Lee, Joseph D Lee. Her son Robert White, and her husbands Paul McGuire and Willard Nusser. She is survived by daughter, Judith Adrian (Merle). Son, Donald Adrian (Lucinda). Daughter-in-law, Peggy White. Stepsons: Raymond Adrian (Erin), David Adrian (Catherine). Granddaughters: Natalie Lawry (Gray), Suzanne Bowers (Hayden), Bethany Adrian, Jamie White. Grandsons: Robert Lewis (Deserea), Garrett Adrian, Mitchell Adrian (Ashley). Great-Grandsons: Brycen Adrian, Rees Lawry, Robert Lewis. Great-Granddaughters: Lexi Lewis, Lana Lewis, Aria Adrian, Avery Adrian, Emberly Bowers. Nieces: Kimberly Young (Les), Peach Lee, Lauren Tripp (Jim). Nephews: Jim Lee, Stephen Lee, Dennis Patrick, Kevin Patrick (Cathy), Jeffrey Lee.
