Kay Riggs Obituary

Kay Lorraine Riggs, 82, of Sun City West, AZ passed away on May 4, 2025, at Banner Del Web Hospital surrounded by the love of her family. Kay was born on November 21, 1942, to Mack and Freda George in Bottineau, ND and lived in Mohall. The family also lived in Loraine, ND and Minnewaukan, ND before moving to Glen Ullin. Kay graduated from high school in Glen Ullin, ND and moved to Washington DC where she lived with her sister, Sandra and worked for the FBI under J. Edgar Hoover. While living in Washington DC she met the love of her life, James Riggs. On July 15, 1961, Kay and Jim were married in Glen Ullin. They started their family at Camp Lejeune, NC with the birth of their daughter, Veronica. Mark was born a year later in Mandan, ND and Todd followed the next year in Lynwood, CA. Being a Marine Corp family, they lived in many states over the years. The most important thing to Kay was her family. She especially loved playing cards and games with her kids and grandkids. She also loved playing bingo and going to the casino with friends. Kay loved to read and do puzzles. Kay always looked forward to the summer when her grandkids would come to visit. Kay was a very proud Marine Corp wife as well. Kay will be forever missed and loved by her children, Veronica Curry, Mark (Becky) Riggs, Todd (Tami) Riggs, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Her siblings Craig (Colleen) George, Maggie Ritts, and Sandra Zelmanski, brother-in-law Ron (Nancy) Riggs, sisters Martha Jean Hedrick, and Carolyn (Kurt) Kasprytzki, many nieces and nephews and best friend, Shirley (Rodney) Conway. Kay was welcomed into eternity by her parents, brothers-in-law Don (Betty) Riggs, Robert Riggs, and sisters-in-law Louise and Gloria Lee, brother-in-law Gordy Ritts and great-grandsons Landon Stack and Blake Stack. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Camino del Sol Funeral Chapel & Cremation Center, 13738 W Camino del Sol, Sun City West, AZ. Honorary Pallbearers for Kay will be her 11 beloved grandchildren, Ashley Froehlich, Brooke Farkas, Tiffany Riggs, DeAnna Riggs, Austin Riggs, Jordan Loomis, Calvin Riggs, Tyler Riggs, Travis Van Riper, Jaxon Riggs and Jayden Riggs.
