Laura Ringel

Laura Marie Ringel, age 65, of Peoria, AZ, passed away peacefully after a long, brave battle with cancer on July 2, 2025, at HonorHealth Shea Medical Center. She was born on March 21, 1960, in Rolla, MO to parents Lois and Maurice Woods. Laura graduated from high school in 1977 and earned professional certifications in cosmetology and medical assisting. She worked for several years as a hair stylist before spending nearly 15 years in medical assistant and patient care coordinator roles. She married her high school sweetheart David Ringel on July 28, 1979, in New Jersey. Together they raised two children, Wesley and Megan, adopted many rescue cats, and enjoyed spending time with family in their homes in Holland Township, NJ, and East Greenville, PA. After parting ways and remaining close friends, Laura started her next phase of life in Arizona. She spent the last decade of her life with loving partner Carl Gauley, with whom she shared many wonderful times and was able to lean on as a constant source of support throughout her battle with cancer. Laura was a true "gypsy spirit." She was known for her love of animals, a green thumb as a talented gardener, a passion for hiking and outdoor adventures, and her loving devotion to her children. She supported many animal rescue centers over the years and was well known for rescuing injured animals and adopting shelter cats. She is survived by her children Megan and Wesley, former husband Dave, her mother Lois, siblings Linda, Karen, Moe, and Ned, and her partner Carl. She was preceded in death by her father Maurice Woods. A memorial service will be held on July 8 at 4:00 PM at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 E. Bell Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85254. Burial will follow in Sedona, AZ, at the Sedona Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Arizona Humane Society. The family would like to thank more people than we could ever name, but especially some of the wonderful nurses and staff at HonorHealth Shea Medical Center, the Mayo Clinic, and all the important persons in her life both before and after her cancer journey.
