Lindsey Layton Obituary

"Our Incredible Girl" July 30, 1974 - February 7, 2025 Lindsey Layton of Peoria, Arizona, passed away on February 7, 2025, at the age of 50. She was born on July 30, 1974, to Deon and Marilyn Layton. Lindsey was a loving mother to her two children, Shondrel Critchfield and Sydney Critchfield. Her greatest joy in life came when she was able to adopt her two sweet girls. She was elated to be a mother; it was a dream come true for her. Raising her daughters were the best times of her life. She was also a mother to each and every one of her nieces and nephews. She loved them tremendously and treated them all like her own. From a young age, Lindsey's passion and talent for dancing was evident-she was dancing as soon as she could walk. She was fortunate enough to dance all over the globe for her beloved dance company, TDA. She went on to share her talent and love for movement with the world, performing as a Phoenix Suns dancer from 1992 to 1994. In 1994, Lindsey faced a life-changing diagnosis of Myelodysplasia Syndrome. Against all odds, she survived, thanks in part to her sister Rikki's selfless act as a bone marrow donor. Lindsey's resilience and determination to keep dancing through life inspired all who knew her. She will always be remembered for her vibrant personality, infectious loud laughter, and unstoppable spirit. Her love of dancing, compassion for others, and joy for life never waned, even in the face of challenges. Lindsey is survived by her children, Shondrel and Sydney Critchfield; her mother Marilyn Layton; her brother Deon Jr. (Kari) Layton; her brother Mitch (Natalie) Layton; her sister Rikki (Craig) Shannon; and her baby sister Courtney Layton. She also leaves behind countless family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory. Lindsey is preceded in death by her loving father, Deon Layton, Sr. A celebration of Lindsey's life will be held on February 18, 2025, at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 22034 N. 83rd Ave., Peoria, AZ 85382. A viewing will be held from 9 to 10:45 a.m. The interment will take place in Thatcher, AZ, on February 19, 2025.
