Mark Nebel Obituary
Mark Robert Nebel, age 70, was welcomed home by his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 7, 2025.
He was born April 24, 1955, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, to his parents Robert and Lois (Treadwell) Nebel. Mark graduated from Sheboygan South High School in 1973, where he was a swimmer and participated in AV Club. He graduated from UW-Platteville in 1977, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. He moved to Cheyenne, WY, where he met and married Anna Profaizer, with whom he shared 21 years of marriage, and several more years as friends. He began his career as an insurance adjuster in Cheyenne, and through his 38-year tenure in his profession, he and his family were able to live in Rawlins, Casper, and Sheridan, WY, as well as Phoenix and Flagstaff, AZ, before he retired in 2015, and bought a home near his two sons and families in Arizona.
Throughout his moves to Wyoming and Arizona, Mark sought solace in the mountains, likely because of his time as a Boy Scout Eagle Scout. He continued camping and fishing throughout his life, with a special fondness for his time in the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming.
Mark was known for his love and generosity for others. He was a devout Catholic, who had a deep faith and strong dependence on God. He served in the church throughout his life, from his early days as an altar server, to participating in men's service groups. He became a Fourth Degree Knight through the Knights of Columbus in Flagstaff, AZ. He also served his local neighborhood for two years as president of his HOA and was an active member in his local Catholic church.
Mark cherished his family, as a most loving father and grandfather, and he provided them all a lifetime of wisdom, guidance, support, and joyful humor. He had a special gift of fostering a beautiful and personal relationship with each one of them, continually meeting them where they are at, and showing up for them time and again. He was always available for a "Nebel Stop" - a quick refreshment detour when en route to another activity, but it was much more than a detour - it was a coveted adventure with Pops - a time for good stories and advice. He was the Dad Standard, loved completely, and he will be deeply missed.
Mark is survived by his children Adam (RaeAnn) Nebel of Phoenix, AZ, Sarah (Josh) Pederson of Tuscaloosa, AL, Matthew (Corey) Nebel of Tempe, AZ, and his grandchildren Jonah, Eden, and Sam Nebel and Esther and Hazel Pederson.
He is also survived by his siblings Tom (Mary) Nebel of Sheboygan Falls, WI, Nancy (Robert) Bouche of Sheboygan Falls, WI, Mary (Robert) Sass of Sheboygan, WI, and sister-in-law Sherry Nebel of Deerfield, WI. In addition, many beloved nieces and nephews: Mark Nebel, Peter Nebel, John Nebel, Elizabeth (Jeremy) Wimmler, Ben (Mel) Bouche, Eric Nebel, Andrew Nebel, Robert (Tessa) Sass, Samantha (Ben) Satter, Lucas (Isabel) Sass, and the Profaizer family as well.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Lois Nebel, and his brother Robert Nebel.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Blessed Trinity Catholic Parish, 319 Giddings Ave., Sheboygan Falls, WI 53085, with Father Michael Lawinger presiding. Visitation 10-11 a.m., Service at 11 a.m., reception to follow.
