Richard Curwin Obituary

Richard "Curley" Merrill Curwin, 86, of Apache Junction, Arizona, passed away on August 20, 2025. He was born on December 1, 1938, in South Bend, Indiana to Alice and Merrill Curwin. A proud veteran, Richard served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany for a year and a half. After his service, he began his career with Bay Asphalt and later joined Dow Corning as a chiller mechanic. In time, Richard moved to Arizona, where he built a home and life filled with love and family. He retired from Motorola in 1998. Richard was a man of many talents. Beyond his work, he found joy in creative writing of short stories and had two books published, sharing his imagination and wit with others. He is survived by his devoted wife, Deborah, and their four children: Jodi (Kevin), Susan (Steve), Kasey (Brian), and David (Julie). He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren, Dylan, Lynnette, Devynn, Madison, Daniel, Steven, Anna, Karlyn, and Dawson and a great-grandfather to four, Logan, Grayson, Vivienne, and Jackson. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Richard's life at a service on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery, 7900 East Main Street, Mesa, Arizona 85207. Richard "Curley" Merrill Curwin will be remembered for his humor, creativity, devotion to family, and unwavering spirit. His stories and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Many fond memories but most of all how he taught me to drive his truck with the standard transmission on the steering column. Dick always had a smile for you! My sincere sympathies!
