Roland Barcelo

Roland was born on a lively day in March 1965 to Luis and Bertha in Tijuana, Mexico, and grew up soaking in the sunshine of Rosemead, California. He was the fun-loving sibling among Ricardo, Luis, Lorena, and Roberto. Nothing thrilled Roland more than trips to his favorite Venice beach. The Barcelo family hailed from the small town of Granados, Sonora-Mexico, where Roland met his future wife, Lidia. They tied the knot on a delightful February day in 1987 and soon welcomed two wonderful children, Jecelyn and Jonathan. In 1989, they packed their bags for a new adventure in Tucson, Arizona, where they planted their roots.
Inspired by his father's footsteps, Roland found his groove in the tire industry, evolving from a tire serviceman to a well-regarded commercial tire salesman. His zest for life extended beyond work; he was an outdoor enthusiast with a flair for extreme sports like racquetball and mountain biking. Music was another of his passions, with Rush, Pearl Jam, and Black Sabbath being his go-to tunes. One could often catch him joyfully playing "air drums" in tribute to his favorite drummer, Neil Peart from Rush.
Roland was truly the "life of the party," a social butterfly who never met a stranger. He instilled a strong work ethic in his children, all while keeping the fun alive. Striving to be his best, he always ensured that laughter and joy accompanied his journey.
True to his rolling stone spirit, Roland embraced adventure at every turn. His untamed nature led him to a life full of excitement and discovery.
The family will celebrate Roland's vibrant life with a 10:30 am mass on Monday, February 10, 2025, at St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church. He will find his final resting place in Granados, Sonora-Mexico, reuniting with his beloved parents.
