Suzanne Pfister Obituary

PHOENIX – Friend, servant leader, social instigator – all those things describe Suzanne Pfister, who passed away on July 19, 2025 after a battle with cancer. Suzanne was born in Tucson, Arizona in 1957 as a fourth generation Arizonan, while her father, Jack Pfister, was in law school. Her mom, Pat, was a nurse. Once Jack graduated from law school they moved to Phoenix, where Suzanne and brother Scott were raised. Suzanne went to Sunnyslope High School, Occidental College and received a Master's degree from Indiana University. Suzanne had an illustrious career in a variety of sectors including state and regional government, a partner in two small businesses and Vice President for Dignity Health Arizona. She culminated her career as President and CEO of Vitalyst Health Foundation, where she served for over a decade. She served on dozens of boards and committees and will be fondly remembered for her commitment to community service. She is survived by her brother Scott (Patti), her uncle Tad Pfister (Linda) and numerous cousins and extended family. She also had an extensive "chosen family" which helped her through life's challenges and made her journey so special along the way. She had a passion for travel, landscape photography and living life to the fullest. A service will be held on August 9th, 2025 at the Franciscan Renewal Center located at 5802 E Lincoln Dr, Scottsdale, AZ 85253. Please make contributions to your favorite charity and hug your family extra close.

Suzanne has been a good friend since about 1986. We went to havasupai together. Racketball, golf, biking. Prescott adventures. See even surprised me with a 40th birthday party many years ago. A good friend to my wife and two daughters as well. She will be missed.

Suzanne was a hero to many, though she would never have admitted to that. She is someone who made the world better. She made an impact, despite her short years on this earth. I will never forget her and send my condolences to her family and chosen family. Natalie
