William Gaddis Obituary

William "Bill" Gaddis passed away on Friday, Aug 22, 2025. His 2 yr. battle with esophageal cancer stole all of his appetite and all of his physical energy. But, as everyone said, it could not steal his soul, his spirit, his love and his great sense of humor. Bill was the most loving and supportive husband, the most caring and wonderful father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend you could ever have. He was truly a spark of life when he walked into a room with his smile. He believed in the power of positive thinking. He was a voracious reader and loved the public library. He believed in exercise. He was a swimmer, a walker, tennis player, skier and a racquetball player. He loved family vacations on the beach and a walk along the ocean. He loved the sunshine and the energy it created. He loved family visits and lunches with friends. Bill was born in Arcadia, CA and grew up, married and raised a family in the Twin Cities, MN. He was in the MN National Guard for 7 years during the height of the VietNam war in the 1970's. And in 1998, he and his wife moved to Scottsdale AZ to start a new chapter in their life. Along the way Bill was a great role model and inspiration to many. In his long career in marketing and advertising, he was a problem solver and creative thinker. He believed in common sense and had the respect and love of his co-workers. He believed in helping others grow and work as a team. But, most of all, Bill will be remembered for his many shared stories and the laughter and love he generated in every setting. Bill would have turned 81 this September 20, 2025. I hope you mark this date as a celebration of his life and remember how much he loved you and how important he made you feel (even across the miles). He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gloria Gaddis. His sons: Benjamin Gaddis, Alexander Gaddis and wife, Jamie. Sister Kathy Wilson and husband Clark; brother Mark Gaddis; sister Mary Patrice Knudson and Bill's (3) beautiful granddaughters: Emma, Riley & Parker Gaddis. All residents of Minnesota. In lieu of flowers or cards, please think about donating to one of these Phoenix organizations: Hospice of the Valley, AZ Food Shelves, AZ Cancer Research, AZ American Heart Association (or charity of your choice).
