I met Noyer at an East Mountains book signing/author event in 2019. He was a great author and I've read some of his books with interest. My last visit at a comic-con found him giving a small history lesson to a small group of teenagers. They were listening to him with interest. In the short time I knew him, we swapped valid writing advice and story critiques between book buyers. He will be missed-condolences to family and friends.

As a student at Cass Tech, Albert gave us a sense that we really could have careers in the arts. There was such a sense of excitement in his classes that we really were being prepared for lives outside the classroom. I remember when I came back disappointed from a job interview (was I even 18 years old?) and how they had told me they didn't like to hire women because they would get pregnant and leave. (Yes, the sexism was that blatant.) He scoffed at that and said everyone moved around in advertising. He gave me such a valuable perspective to take with me on my job interviews. He was sincere, kind and generous to his students. Yes - the Coloraid paper and the smell of rubber cement were an indelible part of being in his classes, and the backroom with its indestructible oak furnishings and the drawers and drawers full of photos to reference. Your impact on me has endured these many years. Thank you for being such a caring teacher. We carry you in our hearts. My condolences and sympathy to Jennifer for her loss.

I was lucky enough to know Albert through the writing community in New Mexico these past years, and it was always such a pleasure to see him. I enjoyed his books as well. He will be missed; my sincere condolences to his family.

Thank you Jennifer Fanning for your beautiful response. My reflection on Mr. Noyer is the same. He was always a bright light in my world and easily the most important adult in my young life. After Cass he became a mentor and friend. We corresponded regularly and I and visited him several times in NM. I have vivid memories of Cass Tech room 647 - an oasis from distractions and a place where my teenage brain could feast on coloraid paper, the smell of rubber cement, and learning about design and typography from such a remarkably sincere and caring teacher. Treasured memories! Good bye Mr. Noyer, and endless thanks.

My experience at Cass Tech seems more remarkable as I get older, and my most influential, even profound, student-teacher relationship was with Albert Noyer. I measure all my subsequent education against this standard.
Mr. Noyer treated his students with respect, wry and understated humor, and professional expectations. It was an atmosphere in which we thrived. There was a kindness and empathy that we found nowhere else, an interest in us and in our developing skills, but also as people, not just teenage kids.
I was glad to maintain a connection with Albert over the 50 years since I graduated in 1972. Seems incredible. How I valued our prolonged connection! I read and owned all his books and admired his continuing life in the arts. I also treasured a long correspondence that yielded letters and notes in that distinctive draftsman´s hand - I would recognize it anywhere.
My most sincere condolences to his wife Jennifer for the loss of this most remarkable and respected companion.

I can't imagine what our career paths might have been without Albert Noyer. His guidance, talent, and intellect brought out our best and gave us a glimmer of what we could be. He started the "What if..." in me.
