Anthony Montoya Obituary

Anthony Nash Montoya

Anthony Nash Montoya, a beloved carpenter, locksmith, and handyman, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Born on April 6, 1940, in the enchanting town of Las Vegas, New Mexico, Anthony lived a life steeped in dedication to his craft and an unwavering love for his family.

A proud veteran, Anthony joined the Navy in 1959, where he served honorably for four years, embodying the spirit of duty and commitment that characterized his life's work. Upon his return, he pursued his education at CNM, focusing on carpentry, wherein he honed his skills to become a journeyman. His career path was marked by an admirable blend of artistry and practicality; he dedicated himself to building structures that would stand the test of time, while also assisting his father, Cornelio Montoya, at the family-owned M&M Locksmith. His tenure at Montoya Trucking as a respected driver further exemplified his versatility and industrious nature.

In his personal life, Anthony was a man of many passions. He found unparalleled joy in cooking for his family and delighting in the laughter and play of his grandchildren. His leisure hours were often spent in the haven of his garage, where he relished in building and creating, his workshop serving as a testament to his craftsmanship. A devoted parishioner of Lourdes Catholic Church, he found solace and community within its walls, honoring his faith with humility and devotion.

Anthony was deeply cherished by his survivors, including his adoring children: Debbie, Anthony Jr., Margo, and Marie L. Montoya, who carry forward his legacy of love and kindness, his devoted ex-wife Cheryl Reis, his grandchildren Ernie Gallegos, Crystal Gutierrez, Cynthia Gutierrez, Mario Montoya, Michael Gutierrez, Marcos Chavez, Leilani Montoya, and Kayla Chavez will forever treasure the moments spent with their grandfather, whose laughter and spirit lit up their lives. Alongside them, he was dear to seventeen great-grandchildren, each one a precious jewel in his crown. Anthony was also survived by his adoring siblings-Angie Romero, Kathy Aragon, Frank, Gilbert, Felix, Herman, Albert, Dolores, and Robert Montoya who will carry on his enduring and bright spirit.

Predeceased by his loving parents, Cornelio and Rose Montoya, and his brothers Raymond, Donald, and Leroy Montoya, Anthony also mourned the loss of his grandson, Anthony Montoya III, whose absence echoed in the hearts of all who knew him. The bond they shared will remain etched in their memories, a poignant reminder of the enduring strength of family ties.

Anthony Nash Montoya's legacy is not merely recorded in the marks upon wood or the locks he secured, but also in the love he imparted to those fortunate enough to be enveloped in his warm embrace. His life was an intricate tapestry woven from the threads of family, dedication, and craftsmanship, a beacon of resilience that shall continue to inspire generations to come.
