Bennie "Ben" Frank Garcia
October 4, 1933-
October 10, 2025
Bennie "Ben" Garcia went home to be with Jesus on October 10, 2025, at the age of 92. He passed peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving children, a fitting farewell for a man whose life was defined by faith, love, and family.
Ben was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He is lovingly remembered by his children Michael (Jessica), Daniel (Jing), Linda, Gloria (Drake), Samuel, and Anna; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; his brother Larry; and a large extended family who will forever cherish his memory.
Born in Guadalupita, New Mexico, to Roy Regensberg and Mary (Lucero) Garcia, and raised by his beloved stepfather Manuel Garcia, Ben's journey took him from Las Vegas, NM, to Martinez, CA, and finally to Albuquerque, NM, the place he proudly called home.
A true patriot, Ben joined the U.S. Marine Corps at just 15 years old and served honorably during the Korean War. His dedication earned him the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, and National Defense Medal.
After his service, Ben pursued many passions. He boxed in the Golden Gloves and later co-owned Mr. Casual & Suits Unlimited with his brothers, helping men look their best. Earlier in his career, his work with Safeway took him to San Juan, Puerto Rico, where he helped start up and manage the first grocery store on the island and discovered a lifelong love of travel with his wife, Agnes. Together, they explored the world, cruising through the Caribbean, Alaska, and the Mediterranean, always ready for their next adventure.
Ben's zest for life was contagious. He loved to laugh, tell stories, and dance, especially when "La Bamba" played, his favorite song. His faith, joy, and love for his family will continue to inspire everyone who knew him.
He is reunited in heaven with his beloved wife of 65 years, Agnes; their son Bennie Jr.; his parents Manuel and Mary Garcia and Roy Regensberg; his siblings Ruby and Manny; and his grandson.
Ben's life was a beautiful journey of faith, service, and love, a legacy that will live on through all whose lives he touched.
