Boye Odom Obituary

Boye Mitchell Odom

Boye Mitchell Odom (Mickey) left this world behind on Wednesday January 29, 2025. Mickey bravely, and without complaining, battled cancer for 2.5 years. He was born on February 5, 1954 in El Campo, Texas. Mickey leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship and an abiding faith in our Heavenly Father.

Mickey was a man of kindness, gentleness, godliness and integrity. He had a calmness about him that could soothe a troubled person. He will be remembered by how he put others before himself.

Mickey and his wife Mary loved the outdoors; hiking, rock climbing, camping, backpacking, snowshoeing and swimming. During the last 3.5 years, they volunteered and shared this with international students at the university and made some lasting friendships. Mickey was also the leader of a home fellowship group in his church. He was well loved and will be missed deeply by all. As a teacher of physics at the community college and coordinator of the physics labs at the university, he helped mold students in their chosen fields. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 46 years. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him including sister Cathy and husband Carl, sister Debbie, and brother Terry and wife Nancy, sister-in-law Norma and partner Rita, brother-in-law Joe and wife Loraine, step-mom-in-law Chris as well as his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His memory will live on through his family and friends, whose lives have been enriched by his love and support.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025 at 10a.m. at the Osuna branch of Calvary Church in the Hub in Albuquerque, New Mexico. A potluck reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Samaritan's Purse or the charity of your choice are appreciated.
