Bruce Schneider Obituary

Bruce Alan Schneider

Bruce Alan Schneider passed away on September 7, 2023. His family mourns the loss of their beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, but rejoices that he went home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ. He was 77 years old. He married his first, and only love, Carol Ann (Parent) Schneider in 1967. She went to be with her Savior in 1997 and he never remarried. After years of separation, they are finally united again.

He is survived by their three children, David Wayne Schneider, Matthew Thomas Schneider, and Jessica Lynne (Schneider) Dixon, his two sisters, Jane Katherine (Schneider) Stauduhar and Jill Kendrick Schneider-Taylor, and his five grandsons, Gabriel Schneider, Ryan Schneider, Andrew Schneider, Asher Dixon, Dexter Dixon, and Jasper Dixon, and one great-grandson Jaxon Thomas Schneider.

Bruce was educated as a civil engineer at the University of New Mexico. He relished designing bridges and seeing them built all over New Mexico. His favorite assignment was working with a joint task force with the University of NM and the Air Force where he designed building models for the Air Force and then used a variety of explosives to see if the models could withstand a bomb blast.

He was a great collector of things, especially classic cars and cameras. He loved to tinker about in his wood shop, go on hikes in nature, and spend time with his family. His legacy of love, kindness, friendship, and faith lives on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. (John 14:3)

I had the pleasure to work with Bruce at BPLW Architects and Engineers where Bruce headed up the structural engineering department. He was a very talented design engineer and a great teacher for young architects. I have many memories of projects we worked on together. It didnt matter the scope of the project, federal courthouse or car rental facility at the sunport his attention to detail was unchallenged. Rest well Bruce.
