Donald R. MacKenzie

Donald R. MacKenzie, 93, passed away on August 14, 2025. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and special friend to many. He loved his Church, the Cubs, bowling, and making up puns and funny phrases.

Don was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a retiree of Sandia National Laboratories. He was preceded in death by his wife Estelle Dawson MacKenzie and is survived by his children, Sheri Martinez (LeeRoy), Debra MacKenzie (Todd Thompson); Grandchildren Sara Brasher (John), Lydia Bradshaw (Clay), Kelsey Thompson (Rush Radwany), and Jaron Thompson (Wendy Sunada); Great-Grandsons Jack and Sebastian Brasher, and Oliver and Rowan Bradshaw.

A funeral service will be held on August 23, 2025 at 12:30 pm at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, lunch and visitation will begin at 11:15 at the church. A full obituary is available at https://www.frenchfunerals.com. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Mexico ALS Chapter, Saranam, or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

I worked with Don at the Sandia wind tunnels for many years. We worked together on many external tests, literally from coast-to-coast. He was always easy to work with and a very talented person.
