Elizabeth Kaime Obituary
Elizabeth Ramsey Kaime
Elizabeth Ramsey Kaime, 96, passed from this life March 26, 2023 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. She was born August 4, 1926 in Ajo, Arizona and was the first of two daughters of Robert Wayne Ramsey (died February 7, 1935) and Alice Redden Ramsey (died September 18, 1998.)
Elizabeth graduated from Tempe Union High School in 1943 and worked as a civil service employee in Washington DC for a year then in Guam for another year. After which she returned to Tempe and graduated from ASU in 1950 with a B.A. in Education.
Elizabeth married Edwin "Bye" Kaime (died March 17, 1999) of Aztec, NM on December 1, 1950 in her mother's home at 110 E. 7th St, Tempe, AZ. The two of them made their home in Farmington, New Mexico where they had four children: Howard Kaime (Marissa, their 5 children and 4 grandchildren) of Cortez, CO; Melissa Kaime, MD of Truckee, CA; Todd Kaime (Beth, their three children and 8 grandchildren) of Las Cruces, NM; Yolanda Koontz (her 3 children) of Las Cruces, NM.
Elizabeth's life work was that of a rancher's wife moving with the livestock from the winter range at High Lonesome in Rio Arriba county, NM to the summer range in the San Juan Mountains around Durango, CO. She also worked as a real estate agent in Farmington and accumulated many rental properties. She never really retired in any classic sense. For years she enjoyed putting her name into sweepstakes and found some success there. She loved to travel and took her family to places like Washington DC, New York City, Hawaii (and other US states), Scotland, China, Germany and others.
That which doesn't kill us makes us stronger and there were many things that made Elizabeth stronger. But a fall in February 2021 at her home in Farmington was the beginning of the end. She recovered from the fall while in a nursing home in Rio Rancho where she came to enjoy some of the activities like bingo and ice cream socials. But she was always wanting to go home. She never regained her ability to stand and was bed-ridden to the end. Her last days were filled with loving family visits. Her son, Todd, was with her as she drew her last breath and her soul took flight - to home.
Visitation for family and friends will be at Resthaven / Carr-Tenney Mortuary, 4310 E. Southern Ave., Phoenix, AZ, from noon to 2 pm April 29, 2023 followed by internment in the Ramsey Estate at Double Butte Cemetery, Tempe, AZ.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that you draw closer to God and your own family. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."
John 3:16
