Ernest Montoya Obituary
After a brief
illness, Ernie
passed away on December 12,
2022. He was born on August 23, 1942 in Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Ysidra Montoya; Genevieve Baca (sister), Anthony Montoya (brother).
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janice; son, Greg Montoya; daughter, Cindy Powers (Bill);
grandchildren; Dominic
Montoya (Desiree), Justine
Montoya, Melanie
Montoya, and Rebecca Powers. Sisters: Cecilia Martinez (Sam), Rita Navarrete (Richard); Brothers: Frank Montoya (Barbara), Phillip Montoya (Patti); Sister-in-Law:
Linda Montoya (Charley); as well as several nephews and nieces.
Ernie was a Vietnam Air Force Veteran and
retired from
Sandia National Laboratories in 2002.
A rosary will be recited at our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna Rd NW, on January 7, 2023 at 8:15 a.m., followed by a Mass at 9:00 a.m. A celebration of life reception will take place at the church hall following the Mass.
Interment will take place on January 9, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

I am very sorry to hear of Ernie's passing. I knew him from our days at Sandia Labs. He coached our Women's Softball team for several years. His laugh will truly be missed. Dora Montoya Gunckel
