Garth Finley Obituary
Our beloved son, Garth Alan Finley, age 46, was born in Albuquerque, NM on August 5, 1970 and died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 10, 2016. Although we grieve for our loss, we take comfort in knowing that Garth is no longer struggling or hurting and has finally found peace. With hope and faith, we will rejoice with him in Heaven on the day that we too shall enter. Garth was kind hearted, had a great sense of humor, and strived for perfection in whatever he did.
He graduated from Manzano H. S. in 1988, then attended Texas Tech University where he graduated with honors in Mechanical Engineering in 1992. He furthered his education at University of Wyoming where he received his Master's degree in Composite Materials Engineering in 1995. He pursued a career in racing and started his dream job in NASCAR. He worked 10 years for several teams as track side engineer/crew chief and was currently working as a WEB designer. Garth loved all forms of racing and grew up driving go carts, BMX bikes, and radio control cars. He was an outstanding pistol marksman, setting two Junior International records. He also had a love for fishing, skiing and was a loyal Pittsburg Steelers fan.
Garth was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Tom and Juanita Smith and Jack Finley. He is survived by his parents, Gary and Nancy Finley; his sister, Heather Konidaris; Grandmother, Gertrude (Trudy) Finley; his Uncle Dana and wife Susie Finley; his cousin Derrick Finley and dear friend Marisa Castaneda. He also leaves behind many cherished aunts, uncles, second cousins and a host of friends.
A Celebration of his Life will be on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, 4:00 p.m. at Montgomery Church of Christ, 7201 Montgomery Blvd NE. Interment will take place at a later date in Bayview, Idaho. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Albuquerque Christian Children's Home, 5700 Winter Haven Rd NW, 87120 or www.acch4kids.org

I had no idea that this had happened and am so sorry to hear that Garth has gone on ahead of this earthly domain. I knew Garth in Charlotte around 1996-1997. He was a wonderful friend during that time. I was looking him up because I knew he would be thrilled about Texas Tech playing in the National Championship this year. I had no idea I was so late to learn of this sadness. I am moved terribly by the news of Garth's passing and my heart goes out to you, his family. I hope time is starting to heal your wounds. God bless Garth's memory, and you all.

My condolences to Garth's family and friends. I have many fond memories of working with Garth at Ricky Rudds back in the 90s. He was a great person. It saddens me to hear of his passing.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Garth. I had not seen Garth since I left Roush Racing. Garth was a kind person and I appreciate the friendship we had as we traveled throughout the country with NASCAR. Garth was brilliant and I am sad to hear that I only have memories of him. The memories I have are of a very kind person that was very helpful. Garth had such a passion for motorsports. Prayers are with your family during these most difficult days.

My heart breaks for the Finley's. It has been a long time since I have seen Garth, but he was a cute and lovable kid, that loved cars - including matchbox cars.
